A Li'l Taste of Charleston

Your Local BBQ Joint

Our Story Begins In North Charleston...

William Bowman is the chef and proprietor of the small soul food and barbecue spot that continues the legacy of his father, Walter Lee Bowman, whom many affectionately called, "Homey".

Bowman was a cook as a merchant seaman, but he really learned a lot from his Dad, who was a  chief cook in the US Navy and chief steward in the US Merchant Marines.

Bowman's parents opened what they just called Tea Kettle at 2220 Meeting Street Rd. in the '50s, which was just a juke joint back then with food. Bowman has recently reopened what he now calls Homey's Tea Kettle BBQ Pit, in honor of his Dad and his parent's business.

The restaurant serves lunch and dinner three days a week.  Bring your appetite with you when you come, and be willing to eat some great food!
